Planning is underway for the second annual SPAY-ghetti dinner to be held Tuesday night, February 24. XFactor Grill at the Cornerstone will again provide the SPAY-ghetti and host the entire event for Cause: PAWS. Bryan Westmoreland said there was a run on the cookies last year so he plans to double up his recipe. Actually, last year there were about fifty percent more people who showed up than were originally expected. He said “This year we will be ready!”. Volunteers will again provide the service and local businesses are being asked to provide door prizes. Shadow Mountain Band will return with their musical show.
The first fundraiser was held last year marking the 20th anniversary of World Spay Day. “Based on the amount of money we raised last year, our best guess was that we would be able to assist in the spay or neuter of 30 – 40 cats and dogs.” said Laura Williams, President of Cause: PAWS, Inc. “We ended the year with 39 spay/neuter assists. While we are so happy to be able to provide that support, it seems there is always more that needs to be done.”
Jeff Roberts, Executive Director of the Toccoa-Stephens County Animal Shelter has been invited to offer his insight and there are a couple of other special guests planned. Talk, however, will be limited. Fun is the order of the evening!
On the menu is SPAYghetti, with or without meat sauce, salad, bread and cookies. Tea and coffee are included. Tickets are $12.50 per person in advance and $15 per person the day of the dinner. Wine and beer will be available for purchase at the bar. Tickets are available at XFactor Grill and North Georgia Credit Union in Toccoa, Tugalo Animal Hospital and Vintage Owl in Lavonia and Mill Creek Veterinary Hospital in Clarkesville.
